Now is the perfect time to plan your summer getaway! But what will you get out of it? Here are the top four reasons to pack your bag and head south.

(Scroll down for four options for retreating with me in Guatemala in the coming months!)

1. Recharge and rejuvenate.

Retreat is a surefire way to opt out of the daily hustle and savor the moment. Even for just a week, immersing yourself in Lake Atitlan’s stunning natural beauty is a healing balm. Take time to lounge, take in stunning sunrises and sunsets, eat delicious and nutritious meals, and explore the colorful Mayan culture.

2. Escape the heat.

Summer temperatures are brutal in much of North America. Here, in contrast, you’ll thrive in the gorgeous weather at Lake Atitlan. Guatemala is known as the land of eternal spring. In June, July and August, we enjoy temperate 75-degree days with typically sunny mornings and cozy afternoon or evening rains. It gets down to 60 or so at night, so bring a light sweater or shawl.

3. Cultivate self-love.

What better gift can you give yourself than a week of self-care, learning, novelty and connection? In a small-group setting, we’ll practice awareness, acceptance, compassion and kindness through yoga, ritual, writing, sharing and simply being.

4. Learn new skills.

Whichever retreat you choose to participate in, you’ll be creating special experiences and learning and growing immensely through both formal and informal lessons each day. Go home feeling renewed and inspired with a plethora of practices to continue employing in your daily life.
