2010–2023 Writings
by Michelle Margaret Fajkus

I’m delighted to be hosting the 2nd annual Guatemala Reset Wellness retreat with Traverse Journeys from Tuesday, August 8 to Sunday, August 13, 2023.

I’ll lead daily yoga and mindfulness sessions in the morning before breakfast and in the late afternoon that incorporate asana, pranayama, meditation and relaxation.

On our first morning together, we’ll participate in an interactive Mayan fire ceremony with Tata Thomas to learn about the 20 energies of the Sacred Mayan Calendar and give gratitude to our ancestors, bodies, and lives.

That afternoon, take an inspiring tour of a nearby farm and a scenic hike to a refreshing waterfall.

The following day, we’ll visit a local women’s collective in a home in San Marcos La Laguna for a cacao and chocolate-making workshop to learn about and sample this delicious, heart-opening treat.

The next day, we’ll boat across the lake to Santiago Atitlan for breakfast and then take a short road trip (1 hour) to an amazing Mayan permaculture community with natural cold pools and have a farm-to-table lunch there.

The last day of the retreat is a free one for you to relax at the cozy retreat center or explore another Mayan village (San Juan La Laguna is recommended; it’s about 15 minutes from Tzununa by boat).

This is a small group retreat for 5 to 12 people, and our home base is the marvelous Bambu Guesthouse in Tzununa, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
