Feliz Solsticio

The shortest day of the year, hence the longest night
Witches celebrate the new year already, now
I’m a good witch
I sat in on a 30-minute Zoom meditation at noon
to commemorate the Grand Conjunction
Planets aligning, squaring,
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius

And just another day
The neighbor’s free range chickens pecking at our compost pile
A black and white dog curled up on a woven purple rug
A black and white cat curled up on my daughter’s unmade bed
The joy of silence and spaciousness
I hear birds’ wings fluttering
Power tools and moto-taxis, too

A fierce breeze blows
then stillness reigns.
