Name something you did that was completely out of character. How did it feel?

Gracias to Yoga As Muse Facilitator and writer Dawn Curtis for offering this #reverb11 prompt.

Reverb is a month-long endeavor in reflecting on the past year and envisioning the year to come. Find out more about Reverb11. Check out the daily prompts and feel free to write publicly on this blog or privately in your diary, as much or as little as you want, as often or seldom as you are compelled to.

I’m typically a shy person with low self-esteem…I coached a dragon boat team with 20 women last year. I started off as a paddler, hurt my back 2 years in a row and because of my love for the sport…I said ‘yes’ to the coache’s cap. Phew…scary but amazing!

I tried my hand at baking, a very traditional activity that I am terrible at. It was hard and I wasn’t all that successful. I usually try to focus on building my natural strengths but it was a good exercise to try to improve a skill that I have zero natural affinity for. Even though I wasn’t all that successful, I did like the challenge and may give it a try more often in 2012.

  3. I’m an elementary school teacher at heart. I somehow morphed into a high school teacher upon moving to Guatemala. But I always said, “I’d never want to be a middle school teacher.” And here I am, smack dab in the middle of teaching middle school! Definitely out of character for me (and I am seeking a move back to elementary next year) but in the meantime, teaching 8th grade is an interesting, enriching and challenging experience.
